Kids Club Begins
Kids Club for Grades K-5 is being held each Wednesday from 3:30-6:00 p.m. It features arts and crafts, music, tutoring and dinner.  Volunteers are still needed.  Contact Gretchen Bentley or Ginny Snow if you are interested in helping with this exciting new program.   
Habitat 17
Habitat 17 pre-construction is underway.  Volunteers are needed.  Block layers will be needed September 8-11.  Subfloor and floor trusses will be put in place on September 12 and 13.  Please turn in your volunteer forms as soon as possible.  Volunteer forms can be found at a table outside of each service or online at http://chpchabitat17.spaces.live.com/.

CHPC is hard at work as preparations are being made for a wide variety of new classes, groups, programs, and special events slated for this fall.

Food for Kids
The purpose of this Second Harvest Food Bank program is to help feed economically disadvantaged school-age children over the weekends while away from school. This year 1,900 kids in Northeast Tennessee have been identified by their teachers and counselors as not getting enough nutritious food outside of school.  You can sponsor a child for one year for just $93. Chancel Choir Retreat - September 14
Chancel Choir members are reminded of the Choir Retreat and Dinner on Sunday, September 14. Make your reservation soon with Gary!  
Bristol Male Voice Choir - September 4
The Music and Arts Team is offering to anyone in the congregation the opportunity to attend the concert of the Bristol Male Voice Choir from Great Britain on Thursday, September 4, at 7:30 p.m., at the Paramount Theatre in Bristol. This group will showcase a wide variety of music. We can get discount tickets for a group of 10 or more for $20 each. If enough are interested from our church, we will arrange to have the church bus or van drive our group to the concert. The special discount is only available until August 27, so please see Gary Jungkeit soon if you are interested in this exciting evening of music.  
Presbyterian Women Fall Gathering - September 6
This event will take place at Strawberry Plains Presbyterian Church. Reservations are due by August 29. Cost of lunch is $7.00. Call Jane Wright at 239-8876.

Seniors Trip September 4
Next stop for CHPC Seniors will be the National Fish Hatchery in Erwin which produces 10 million disease-free eggs annually from four strains of Rainbow Trout. The bus will leave the church at 9:00 a.m. on Thursday, September 4. The tour will be followed by lunch at the Unicoi County Heritage Museum.
