What Should I Expect

Services

In both our worship services we sing, read scripture, pray, participate in serving our local community and hear an inspiring sermon.  We read the same scripture in both services and much of the service is the same, but the style and feel of our 2 services is very different.

Our 9am service is a relaxed atmosphere where the music is modern and led by a band.

The 11am service has a more traditional feel complete with choir and organ.  The goal of both services is the same... to worship God authentically and with reverence.

Kids

Colonial Heights Presbyterian Church is a place for families of ALL configurations and children of ALL abilities.  Children at Colonial Heights Presbyterian Church have the highest quality church experience.

  • Children's Worship takes place during both worship hours.  Children begin in worship with their parents, but depart for Children's Worship after a few songs.  Children 5yrs through 3rd grade are invited to attend.
  • We have a nursery and children's wing that is clean, safe and staffed by workers who have been screened and trained.
  • Our Nursery is for children 6 weeks to 2 years old and we have childcare for 3 and 4 year olds available from 8:50am until 12:15pm.
  • We offer Children's Sunday School at 10:10am for children 2 and up

Because we take your child's spiritual development and safety very serious we follow a thorough Child Protection Policy.  To learn more about our Children's Ministry and the Safe Sanctuaries Child Protection Policy you can visit our Children's Ministry page by clicking here

Dress

There's no set way to dress at CHPC.  People wear whatever is comfortable for them.  On any given Sunday you'll see anything from shorts, T-shirts and jeans to suits in both services.  Come as you are!  Whatever you choose to wear... you're welcome here!

Coffee

Sunday mornings can be sluggish, especially with kids.  We want to help out by providing a little extra high-quality pep.  That's why we brew Organic Fair-Trade Coffee from Equal Exchange every Sunday.  Show up early and get yourself a FREE cup of Joe.  Stay late and have a coffee with friends.  Coffee is always available in the Cafe Room located immediately off the gym.

Connections Crew

Have any questions about CHPC?  What to know more about our ministries or how to get more involved?  Touch base with our Connections Crew.  You'll see them every Sunday walking around with big bright smiles and blue lanyards that say "How Can I Help?".  Also check out our Connections Table in both worship spaces.  There's always a member of the Connections Crew manning table ready and willing to answer your questions and help you feel right at home here at CHPC.

Security

Your family's safety is our highest priority. We take care to make sure our facility is clean and safe for your visit.  In addition we pay special attention to make sure our facility and children's area are safe and secure.  Our security team is here to make your visit a safe one.
